The FASNY Museum of Firefighting at 117 Harry Howard Avenue
The FASNY Museum of Fire Fighting is America’s interactive museum of firefighting. It is also the home of the premiere collection of American firefighting objects in the world.
When I visited the museum recently, I found that the museum is not just a treasure trove of information and artifacts but an extensive study on modern fire fighting from its creation in the time of the Romans and Greeks, the beginnings of the fire service in America lead by people like Peter Stuyvesant and Benjamin Franklin. These men brought their ideas and innovations by working alongside people doing the work and…

The James Vanderpoel House Museum
The afternoon I visited the society, the Vanderpoel House was the only building open, but it was interesting to visit. I saw the early American portrait’s exhibition from New York State and the Federal Style exhibit as well. What is nice about the gallery space is that they display a lot of interesting artworks in a small gallery. The exhibits are not overwhelming like in a large museum.
The two small exhibitions at the Vanderpoel House were very intriguing as well as the historic house was well maintained. The exhibits were very interesting…
Wing Shui Chinese Restaurant at 53 North Street in Kingston, NY
I have been eating at Wing Shui Chinese Restaurant for several years since I dined there back in 2018 and fell in love with their egg rolls which are some of the best I have ever had. They are one of the few restaurants in Kingston, NY that is still reasonable as the area around the “Stockade Section” section of the city has gentrified. It sits as an old guard to the more expensive upscale restaurants that have opened in recent years.
The egg rolls at Wing Shui are some of the best I have eaten.
The egg rolls are loaded with chopped roast pork.
I have tried a few of the restaurant’s dishes and…
One of the stars of the both the New York International Restaurant Show and Fancy Food Show has been the Crunch Factory’s Crunch Rolls. These delicious deep fried appetizers have the most intense and rich flavor with each ingredient. The crispness of the rolls when they come out of the fryer are perfection and they crackle with every cut of the knife and every bite.
The Crunch Rolls in their deep fried perfection at the NY Restaurant Show
The Crunch Rolls come in four flavors: Mac & Cheese, Banana Pepper, Buffalo Chicken and the newest, Philly Cheesesteak. The outside of each roll is layer which a breaded coating that when fried offers a crispy and crunchy consistency with each bite. The flavors are marvelous.
