My time as a firefighter on the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ.

We took a lot pride in our Annual Chicken Parmesan Dinner that took place after our April drill. It is a time for all firemen to ‘break bread with one another’ after our monthly drill. I took a lot of time to cook this dinner which consisted of a double batch of Chicken Parmesan, Baked Ziti or Lasagna, a mixed salad, garlic bread and for dessert, homemade cookies and brownies. This is where the pride of my CIA degree comes in. I always wanted to continue that tradition of cooking at the firehouse and of us eating together.
It was a nice that we always looked forward to and we got the most of amount of guys from other companies to join us for our monthly drill and meeting and then dinner.
This is the pride of being a fireman!
My time on the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department participating in the Annual “Santa Around Town” event.

Brothers Bernie Valente and Justin Watrel decorate the fire truck for the Annual Santa Around Town.
The last Sunday before Christmas is the afternoon and early evening that Santa makes his annual visit to the community of Hasbrouck Heights with the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department.
Every year, our company gets to the firehouse early, has breakfast together and then washes and decorates our truck in preparation for the trip around Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. It is a very popular event that brings generations of families out to meet and take pictures with Santa. This much anticipated event is our gift to the Hasbrouck Heights community for their support of their fire department.
