NoHo Juice Bar & Deli at 208 Mercer Street

When I started a new class at NYU, I came across this little deli/juice bar across the street from our new building on Mercer Street. The deli has been here for years and now that the new building has opened, it has become more popular with the students.

What I like about NoHo Juice Bar & Deli is that the prices are really reasonable, the hours fit into my schedule when I am attending classes and the food is really good. Their portion sizes are very generous which is perfect for starving college students.

What I love about New York is that one every corner there seems to be a favorite bodega or deli that sells what you need when you need it. Some also just stand out for the quality of the food and the service and selection. S & A Gourmet Deli is one of those places.

A friend and I had just stopped in to buy sandwiches for lunch that we were going to enjoy a few blocks away in Madison Square Park. They had a large selection of sandwiches and wraps, and I decided on Chicken Cordon Bleu hero sandwich ($8.99) with a Coke ($1.99).

The sandwich contained a fresh fried chicken breast topped with Swiss cheese and ham and then broiled for a few minutes…

Lucky’s Famous Burgers at 370 West 52nd Street

I came across Lucky’s Famous Burgers while walking the Hell’s Kitchen/Clinton neighborhood for my blog, “MywalkinManhattan.com” and thought it looked like a nice little neighborhood restaurant. It is an excellent combination of food, atmosphere and good customer service. For a burger place, I thought the food was excellent and the portion sizes were really fair.

They have a nice selection of combination meals on the menu to choose from and after walking all day long I was starved. I settled for the Lucky’s Original Special with French Fries and a Boylan’s Black Cherry Soda from the fountain. That was a real treat because I love their sodas and you don’t see them on the fountain too much…
